01What Nova Price Intelligence is

Nova Price Intelligence is Gadget Trade’s marketplace pricing guidance feature. It uses relevant marketplace listing data to help a buyer or seller understand where a listing sits relative to comparable records available on Gadget Trade.

The result is guidance, not a guaranteed correct price. Marketplace prices change with supply, demand, condition, location, negotiation and the specific details of each device.

02What Nova compares

When suitable data is available, Nova can consider product title, category, model, condition, location, price, stock and other listing attributes when identifying comparable marketplace records. The comparison set is intended to be relevant rather than simply large.

A small or loosely matched set may provide less useful context than a larger set of closely related listings. Where the interface provides a comparable count, that number helps explain how much marketplace context was available.

03How to read the price signal

• Below typical: the listing is below the calculated comparison level for the selected comparison set.
• Around typical: the listing is close to the calculated comparison level.
• Above typical: the listing is higher than the calculated comparison level.
• The signal is not a quality grade, authenticity decision or guarantee that a seller should accept or a buyer should pay a particular amount.

04Why two similar gadgets can have different prices

Condition, warranty, original accessories, storage size, colour, battery health, repair history, location, delivery arrangements, seller reputation, scarcity and demand can all justify a price difference that a marketplace average cannot fully explain.

Users should therefore compare the actual details of the listing rather than relying on a single number. Price Intelligence is most useful as one input in a broader decision.

05For buyers

Use the signal to identify listings that deserve a closer look. Compare condition and included items, inspect images, review the seller information, ask questions where necessary and use Gadget Trade’s supported transaction and buyer-protection flows before paying.

06For sellers

Use the insight as one pricing input. Combine it with your acquisition cost, item condition, expected negotiation range, delivery costs, warranty or accessories and the demand you are seeing for similar products.

A price signal should help you understand the market context; it does not require you to match an average or guarantee that a listing will sell at any particular price.

07How Nova works with Price Intelligence

Nova uses the product and marketplace context available for the supported task, identifies relevant comparable records, interprets the available price signals and presents the result in plain language. Nova can also explain what information may affect the comparison and suggest what the user should inspect next.

Nova should not turn a comparison signal into a claim that a product is authentic, a seller is trustworthy or a transaction is guaranteed safe. Those are separate questions that require appropriate evidence and user judgement.

08When current research matters

Marketplace comparison can be complemented by current public research when a question involves a recent product release, changing public prices, current specifications or another time-sensitive fact. Nova Research is designed for eligible questions where freshness matters and can provide sources for the information it uses.

Price Intelligence and Nova Research serve different purposes: one interprets marketplace pricing context, while the other can investigate current public information.

09Important limitations

Price Intelligence is not an appraisal, authenticity certificate, investment recommendation, valuation certificate or promise of a fair transaction price. The feature depends on the marketplace records available at the time and the quality of the information contained in those records.

If a listing has unusual characteristics or there is insufficient comparable data, the signal may be less informative. Users should treat the result as decision support and consider the full listing context.
