How Nova Works

01What Nova does

Nova is Gadget Trade’s AI assistant for gadget discovery, marketplace questions, research and supported seller workflows. You can ask a normal question and Nova uses the information and tools relevant to that task to produce a response.

The goal is to provide useful decision support while keeping Gadget Trade marketplace facts separate from general AI knowledge and public-web information.

021. You ask a normal question

You do not need a special command. Ask about a gadget, specification, compatibility, price, listing, seller workflow, research topic or another supported task in ordinary language. Follow-up questions can use the conversation context available to the feature.

032. Gadget Trade context is used when relevant

For marketplace questions, Nova can receive relevant Gadget Trade records such as listing titles, categories, prices, condition, location, stock and comparable listings when those records are available to the feature.

Nova should not invent a listing, seller, price, stock figure, transaction status or other marketplace fact when the relevant record is unavailable.

043. AI reasoning produces the response

Gadget Trade uses OpenAI as the AI reasoning layer for the production Nova experience. Relevant user input and application context are handled through the server-side integration so private provider credentials are not exposed in the browser.

The response is generated from the information supplied for the task. This means Nova can still be wrong when information is incomplete, ambiguous or misunderstood.

054. Current questions can use web research

When freshness matters, Nova can use managed web research for eligible questions such as recent releases, current public specifications, public pricing or current announcements.

When sources are available, Nova can provide links so you can inspect the underlying public information. Search results are evidence to review, not an automatic guarantee of authority.

065. Different Nova features use different tools

Nova can appear in the main AI experience and in selected Gadget Trade surfaces such as product intelligence, selling and Campaign Studio. A feature may use marketplace records, research, supported visual inputs or application tools depending on the task and plan.

The tools available to one Nova experience do not necessarily apply to every other Nova feature.

07Important limitations

• Nova can make mistakes or rely on incomplete information.
• Nova does not replace the authoritative Gadget Trade listing, account record, payment status or transaction record.
• Price guidance is not an appraisal, authenticity certificate or guaranteed sale price.
• Do not use Nova as a substitute for professional legal, financial, medical or security advice.
• Never provide passwords, PINs, one-time passwords, card security codes or other authentication secrets.

08How to get better results

• Name the exact device, model or task when you know it.
• Tell Nova whether you want a quick answer, comparison, current research or step-by-step guidance.
• Include useful constraints such as budget, storage, condition, location or intended use.
• Ask a follow-up question when you need to narrow or correct the result.
• For important current information, open the provided sources and verify before acting.
